No Alimony for Wife of Gay Ex-Governor Jim McGreevey

A New Jersey divorce court judge ruled on Friday that gay ex-Governor Jim McGreevey will not have to pay alimony to his ex-wife Dina Matos. McGreevey will have to pay his ex-wife a lump settlement and pay child support for daughter Jacqueline. Matos and McGreevey have been separated since the former governor of New Jersey issued a public statement in 2004 that he was a ‘gay American’ and had engaged in an extramarital affair with a male member of his staff.

New Jersey Law to Require HIV Testing for Pregnant Women

New legislation requiring HIV testing for pregnant women was signed into law on Wednesday by New Jersey acting governor Richard J. Codey. The law will require health-care providers to test all pregnant women for HIV unless the women opt-out of testing.

Gay ex-New Jersey Governor James McGreevey, who came out in 2004 amid a sex scandal, filed for divorce Friday from his wife of seven years. McGreevey's lawyers filed the two-page document seeking to dissolve his union with Dina Matos McGreevey, said Elizabeth county court spokeswoman Sandra Thaler-Gerber.

Gay Ex-Gov's Estranged Wife to Pen Memoir

The ex-wife of gay former New Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey announced Thursday that she is writing a memoir. Dina Matos McGreevey's Silent Partner, in which she will speak openly and honestly of her life with her ex-husband who in 2004 stunned the country by resigning from office amid a gay sex scandal. The memoir is set to be published this spring by Hyperion Books.

Clergy in New Jersey who oppose same-sex civil unions cannot be forced to sanctify them, the state attorney general said Thursday in a decision. Attorney General Stuart Rabner's legal opinion, sent to the state registrar of vital statistics, came less than a month after the state became the third to approve civil unions for gay couples.

Gay Ex-Gov. McGreevey's Portrait Hanging Draws Little Fanfare
